Old Fashioned Sugar Cookies

These are not your rolled sugar cookie. No, these are those old fashioned, big, slightly crispy on the outside and nicely chewy on the inside melt in your mouth sugar cookie! I've modified this recipe a bit, I added less salt, it originally called for 3/4 teaspoon, and I cut down on the baking soda and added cream of tartar. The original recipe called for 2 teaspoons of baking soda and no cream of tartar. I thought it made the cookie too salty, that and the amount of salt. Feel free to use the recipe as it was originally laid out, or try my modifications.
